History 1956 - 2004

The club remained in private ownership. A number of the current members have been members at DGC for parts of this period. The competition cups each have a distinctive history, which we hope to tell shortly. Members have fond memories of evening golf and social times, taking personal responsibility for greens, spectating sheep and all sorts of incidents and events, distinctive to the culture of DGC. During the late 1990s and early 2000s local membership suffered a brief decline but there was also an influx of a small number of dedicated local and country members.

'The club is this year aiming to achieve a complement of 300 members and welcomes visitors of all abilities throughout the year. It is an exciting period in the long history of DGC. We are planning, in the light of feedback, some minor improvements to the way we promote and organise some of the competitons and, of course, we should have a new clubhouse, which is eagerly anticipated by all'
