30 May 2008 :
On Friday 30 May 2008 some 50 or so of our gentlemen, lady and junior members managed to achieve something that the USA Ryder Cup teams of recent times have failed to do; we held the Ryder Cup!
Yes! We were treated to the spectacle of the Ryder Cup being brought to us by helicopter. The helicopter swooped in to land on the 1st fairway on a lovely May morning and stayed with us for the better part of half an hour as members gazed at, were photographed with and indeed touched the famous cup. It was a truly inspirational visit. Thanks to the Welsh PGA, who of course will stage the event at Celtic Manor in 2010. For the full story and a couple more pictures you can visit www.pgarydercuptour.com.

27 April 2007 : Seniors Day at Criccieth
In glorious sunshine, of stark contrast to the previous year, a team of seniors ( loosely defined and including one member under 20) had a thoroughly enjoyable days' golf on the splendid hilltop course at Cricccieth. In recent years the relationship with Criccieth had begun through links established by Steve Mumford and Steve Gregory and has continued through the efforts of Gwilym Guest and Harry Baggs ( for Criccieth). The team improved somewhat on the previous year and scored one and a half points, albeit several fewer than the hosts. The return event is on 16.8. We won the home fixture in 2006 and are looking for a repeat! If anyone wishes to return to Criccieth in competitons this year there is an open seniors event on 15 June.See www.cricciethgolfclub.co.uk for more detils

12 March 2007 Responses to Competitions and Handicaps Survey
The Competitions and Handicaps Sub-Committee would like to thank the 32 members who returned our summer survey. The results are available on our website under Members/News and Issues.
In response to the survey we have recommended to the Executive Committee that:
- Full handicap allowances will be used in all competitions
- The overall winner of most gentlemen’s competitions continues to be the player with a 0-28 handicap who returns the lowest nett score, but henceforward the two equal and equivalent runners’ up prizes should go to a) a player with a 0-18 handicap, who has the next best nett score for players within that handicap range and on the same basis to b) a player with a 19-28 handicap.
- The 2007 fixture list, now available, remains largely the same as for 2006 but is kept under review for 2008.
We will continue to vary competition formats and entry processes where we can and will apply tough ‘general play’ handicap reductions, when it seems appropriate to do so, whilst raising some handicaps through our annual Spring review.
We are pleased that members appear to have enjoyed the 2006 programme of weekend formal, and midweek social, competitive golf and would like to encourage more gentlemen and ladies to participate in 2007.
Please look out for competition and handicap notices in our new clubhouse and also on our website, www.dolgellaugolfclub.com .
10th October 2006 Competition Survey Results
32 members responded to the clubhouse and online survey. Not every respondent answered every question. They were saying whether they were more or less likely to play in competitions if the committee took a particular action The sample at 12% of the membership is a significant one and very helpful.
